So Emma Watson is apparently as bad as they get, if the Internet is to be believed! In the big bad world of movies where women are supposed to be decoration and men are supposed to take home the big fat paychecks, she is managing to stand on her own. And she’s well on her way to becoming one of the highest paid actresses of Hollywood. Plus, she’s not stereotyped and happy to take on diverse roles. Then she takes her money and spends some of it on charity as well – letting the other non-charitable souls feel horrible about their mountain of wealth. I mean seriously, who does that? If that weren’t bad enough, awards don’t interest her! Which self-respecting actress doesn’t like collecting trophies, even if the awards are more politically decided than meritoriously?

To top it all, she likes her privacy and refuses to let random fans click selfies with her and geotag her location while they are at it, because she likes to keep herself and her location safe and somewhat secret.  In short, she has the beauty and the brains to manage it all. Here are 15 times Emma Watson gave us too much to handle. She’s clearly a woman after our own hearts.

When Awards Were Just Too Mundane For Her

Emma Watson is probably sick of receiving meaningless awards and the Elle Woman of the Year Trophy seemingly wasn’t all that special for her. Sources (mind you, these are unverified sources) claim that Emma appeared uninterested in the “honor.” So much so that she kept everyone waiting for over an hour, and then upon arrival, also refused to walk the red carpet with other “A-list stars”, the likes of Sasha Lane and Eliza Cummings. Never mind that she might have been a tad unwell or a bit off the radar – she was expected to put on a dazzling smile and party like there was no tomorrow. Not this lady though – for if she’s not in the mood to let her hair down and be a lush, she simply refused with dignity – letting the paparazzi string on their own version of her behavior. Two hoots and all.

When She Clearly Admits That Lying Is Not Her Forte

So while she looks pretty and seems to have her head firmly screwed on her shoulders, she has one very horrible habit. And that is that fact that she cannot lie at all. In fact, when she was contradicted and asked if acting was a form of lying, she completely disagreed with the interviewer (the gall!) and instead said that acting is "saying the truth in imaginative circumstances." Describing acting as lying, she said, was the worst description ever. In an interview, she said, "I remember trying to get into clubs when I was just about to turn 18, so legally, still underage. They'd ask my age and my friends were already in the door, it was not even a big deal – and I was like, ‘I can't do it.’ It's terrible. They were like, ‘You're an actress, what's wrong with you? Get it together, woman.’ But I am the worst liar ever!” Honesty is the best policy, especially in our future girlfriend...

She Didn’t Get Fazed By Mean Tweeters

So, the fact that Emma Watson is basically a beauty with brains and tons of money does not go down to kindly with the have-nots and the I-have-to-say-trashy-things-about-everyone kind of people in the world. So many people like to say nasty things about her. But do you know what’s horrible about her? She doesn’t care! On Jimmy Kimmel Live!  she read a nasty tweet that some random troller had written about her. She read, “Emma Watson seems like the type of girl who I would be friends with for like three days and then get really sick of but not tell her." Like, what? But Emma Watson remained unfazed for she’s the one who gets to talk about gender equality at the UN, takes the big bucks home and looks like a million bucks while doing it. What’s one dumb mean old tweet, considering all that she has and the tweeter never will?

When Taking A Selfie With Her Was A No-No

If you see Emma Watson sometime and pounce on her as a fan, begging her for a selfie, chances are that you will be firmly but politely refused. This has earned Emma plenty of trolls on the web and otherwise. But she has a very simple and very logical explanation to it all: “For me, it's the difference between being able to have a life and not. If someone takes a photograph of me and posts it, within two seconds they've created a marker of exactly where I am within 10 meters. They can see what I'm wearing and who I'm with. I just can't give that tracking data. I’m not rude, I’m just firm. I'll say, ‘I will sit here and answer every single Harry Potter fandom question you have, but I just can't do a picture.' I have to carefully pick and choose my moment to interact. But I don’t say no to children…”

When She Didn’t Give Up Or Give In

Despite the fact that success came early to her, this Harry Potter star felt that she never fit in during her school years and always felt worthless because of it. She never had many friends and was a bit of a loner since her early childhood, and this is probably why she is often described as a snob. But the fact is that Emma did endure plenty of peer pressure when she was young, but despite the tough time, was determined not to give up. And this is the advice she passes on to youngsters as well: “I remember feeling at school that if I didn’t fit in there was nothing else. And that’s a really difficult feeling.” But she urges all the kids who feel out of place to really follow their passions and find their tribe, their people. Giving up is never an option and that’s something she realized as early as 11 years old.

When She Fought Back Against The Hackers & Thieves

So, if you are a hacker hellbent on stealing Emma Watson’s images, beware, for she does not take it lightly or kindly! In 2014, after her acclaimed UN speech about gender equality and feminism went viral, hackers and trollers said that her private photos would soon be posted online. A user on 4chan threatened to post revealing images of the actress, setting up a countdown to the "event." It never happened, despite other users applauding the "event." Now, after her Vanity Fair photoshoot, some photos of her have been stolen and Emma is taking legal action. Her publicist released a statement saying, "Photos from a clothes fitting Emma had with a stylist a couple of years ago have been stolen. They are not n*de photographs. Lawyers have been instructed and we are not commenting further." So clearly, the threats of hackers and trollers do not weigh too heavily upon her and neither can she be scared into submission. If they fight nasty, she can be nastier, but in a legal way.

When She Was An Unapologetic & Strong-Minded Feminist

She is a kicka*s girl. She knows when to be cheeky or irreverent, and when to get down and at it. This young UN Women Global Goodwill Ambassador is trying to put feminism in a calmer and kinder light. Here’s what she has to say: “I was appointed six months ago, and the more I have spoken about feminism, the more I have realized that fighting for women's rights has too often become synonymous with man-hating. If there is one thing I know for certain, it is that this has to stop. For the record, feminism, by definition, is the belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities. It is the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes. It is time that we all see gender as a spectrum instead of two sets of opposing ideals." Clearly, the girl means business. And it’s time we stopped seeing her as just an actor but as someone trying to do her bit, one baby step at a time.

When She Still Did What She Wanted Because It's Her Body

Emma Watson likes to do things her way and the bold and rather risqué Vanity Fair shoot proves that she is not afraid to show skin – for it is completely her choice to do so. Critics targeted her by calling her, at their most polite, a hypocrite for doing a shoot that showed a hint of her chest, while faffing about feminism, on the other hand. Her answer silenced the dissenters: “It just always reveals to me how many misconceptions and what a misunderstanding there is about what feminism is. Feminism is about giving women choice. Feminism is not a stick with which to beat other women with. It’s about freedom, it’s about liberation, and it’s about equality. I really don’t know what my [chest has] to do with it. It’s very confusing. I’m confused. Most people are confused. No, I’m just always just quietly stunned.” And she goes about her business of show business her own darn dang way…

When She Accepted A Gender Neutral Award With Pride

So while the Elle award didn’t excite her all that much, the MTV newly-minted Gender Neutral Best Big-Screen Actor did. She was enthusiastic and in a bit of a tizz and gave a very sweet acceptance speech as well, saying “the first acting award in history that doesn't separate nominees based on their sex says something about how we perceive the human experience.” However, many in the showbiz aren’t such big fans of gender neutrality. Case in question, the Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan. The gentleman is not known for a shy or reticent character at all, and nor is he reluctant to pick fights. He then vented early morning on this British-born Hollywood star, saying, “Gender neutral awards – just what the world was craving. I can’t think of a better recipient than Emma Watson, a great flag bearer to all things gender neutral.” Emma Watson, flush with her success, did not deign to comment or care!

When She Became A “Rich” Disney Princess

Girls dream of becoming a princess from the moment they start watching Disney. Emma Watson realized all her girly dreams when she signed on to become Belle in Beauty and the Beast – not that her performance or her “take” on the role was liked by many. Irrespective of critics, Emma Watson took home a fat paycheck for the movie as well. She was paid some $3 million for her role as the bold and the beautiful Belle, but final numbers say that she pocketed a neat $20 million in backend earnings – which puts her at the higher end of female paychecks, but still in the middle end of male actor paychecks. This is why Emma Watson fights through the snarky comments and insists on gender equality – being a woman should not make you get paid less, and being a man should not help you bring home a fatter paycheck.

When She Becomes The Most Inspiring Celebrity

If being the Goodwill ambassador to the UN wasn’t enough, Emma Watson can add another feather to her cap – that of being the “most inspiring celebrity,” chosen by British teens. In a British study, commissioned by youth empowerment program of the National Citizen Service, 1,000 British teenagers were polled on which celebrity most inspires and influences them. The list of celebrities included many actors, musicians, fitness bloggers, YouTubers, and reality stars: a total of 43. Names like Ariana Grande, Beyoncé, and Zayn Malik were given the slip and Watson took the top spot. She got top position not just because of her film work but also for all her commitment to feminism and female empowerment. One of the teens was quoted in the press release and said that her choice was Emma because all the fame and the power she gained as a celebrity from the Harry Potter series is now used by her to forward important issues like feminism.

When She Is Just So Darn Pretty 

Youth is on Emma’s side and with her flawless skin, her belle of the village looks, and the impeccable dressing – she is quite the head turner. In fact, even when she was more of Hermione Granger than Emma Watson in Harry Potter, there are times she cleaned up so well. The script itself shows her transformation into a beauty as awe-inspiring with Harry and Ronald taking notice of this otherwise geeky girl. She also has a great dressing sense (and a great stylist, it seems) and manages to make the news with her carefully chosen outfits and makeup. Obviously, looking good is part and parcel of showbiz. No one wants to see zits or caked up makeup or extra pounds showing beneath those dresses – so Emma is careful about her skin, has a genetically gifted smile, takes care of the clothes and the war paint and definitely manages to get double takes.

When She Has The Brains To Go With Her Beauty Too

While she was still a Harry Potter star, Emma Watson had said, “There are too many stupid girls in the media. Hermione’s not scared to be clever. I think sometimes really smart girls dumb themselves down a bit, and that’s bad.” And she has really lived up to this statement. Other than a few things here and there, there’s not much you hear about Emma Watson in a bad light, though she has a comeback for that too. “People say things to me like, ‘It’s really cool that you don’t go out and get drunk all the time and go to clubs,’ and I’m just like… I appreciate that, but I’m kind of an introverted kind of person just by nature, it’s not like a conscious choice that I’m making necessarily. It’s genuinely who I am.” She completed her schooling from Oxford as a private student and then from 2011 to 2014, split her time between working on film projects and continuing her education, studying at Brown University and Worcester College, Oxford and graduating from Brown with a bachelor's degree in English literature.

When, Well, She Became The Unmistakable Hermione Granger

Once the movies were out, girls the world over envied Emma for landing Hermione’s role. Getting the role basically boiled down to sheer luck when some casting agents visited British schools looking for actors to portray Harry, Hermione, Ron, Draco and the rest. “I was asked up to David Heyman's [the producer] office with Rupert. David sat me down and said, ‘You’ve got the part.’ Ahhh! It was so cool. Best experience of my life. Scariest experience of my life. Too much to take in. I was in awe.” Later in her teens, Emma did not like being compared to Hermione all that much – thinking that Hermione was geeky while she herself was way cooler. Later she changed tack, saying "I feel as though I spent a long time trying to pretend I was not like Hermione. And, of course, I was rather like Hermione; I've finally come to accept the fact!"

When She Confused Jimmy Fallon With Jimmy Kimmel

So there is more than just a last name difference between Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel, and the similarity perhaps ends at the late night shows. But Emma Watson completely missed that! When she came onto The Tonight Show hosted by Jimmy Fallon, she was honest enough to remember her first time on a show with Fallon that didn’t go down too well. At that time, Fallon was on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and after saying the hellos and the howdy-doos, Watson opened her mouth and put her foot in saying, “I love that Halloween candy thing that you do.” This remark was followed by silence – embarrassed on Fallon’s part and clueless on Emma’s. When Fallon told her, point blank, “that’s Jimmy Kimmel,” Watson remembers that she just died inside. Since she was terribly uncomfortable, Fallon let her go outside to restart the show, to give her a break. Only the first thing he asked was, “So, do you watch a lot of late night TV?” Cue hysterical laughter! A girlfriend with a goofy sense of humor; yep, we'd love that.
