Emma Roberts might look like a good girl on the outside, but that’s not the case on the inside. As a matter of fact, Julia Roberts’ superstar niece is quite the controversial figure in Hollywood. She’s been called every name in the book (both nice and not so nice ones) and has a reputation for being difficult, both on and off set. Now, we don’t know what kind of person Emma Roberts is behind closed doors but according to all of the reports we’ve seen about the actress, there aren’t a lot of people who would voluntarily work with her.
Emma Roberts is one actress who has done it all: she’s been accused of harming her boyfriend, she’s been called a home-wrecker, and she’s known for being mean, antisocial and unprofessional on her movie sets. If that weren’t enough, Emma insists that she’s a Hollywood star because of her work and her talent and not because of her famous father, Eric Roberts, and of course her aunt, Julia Roberts. She Has A Big Party Girl Reputation
There’s no denying that Emma Roberts is in her prime. She’s young, she’s been making films and working in television for years now and she’s rich. And apparently, she’s one of Hollywood’s biggest party girls. She certainly does not want that to be her reputation, but that is what tabloids are reporting.
Yet, Emma insists that she’s not the kind of person that the tabloids make her out to be. She wants everyone to believe that she’s a bookworm who would rather stay home on a Saturday night than party. She once said, “Books are a really fun way to get yourself in a certain mindset or mood as an actress. Also, the way people tell a story is so revealing and I think it's important as an actress to see all the different ways people can unravel a story, and introduce the characters and the way people speak.”
Is She A Home-Wrecker?
According to past reports, Emma Roberts was accused of getting in between Rachel Bilson and her husband Hayden Christensen. That’s right! Many people have labeled Emma as being a home-wrecker. Ouch. That is another reputation that you definitely don’t want to have in Hollywood. Just ask Sienna Miller. Rachel supposedly found text messages that were exchanged between Emma and Hayden while they were filming Little Italy together.
Emma, of course, has dismissed the claims. For her, it’s complete speculation. Emma has said this in the past, “Love is not necessarily about grand gestures. It can be the little things, like someone knows you like a certain food so they pick it up for you. Stuff like that is sweet. It's little things that are nice and thoughtful that you can do every day.”
She Was Involved In An Infamous Domestic Dispute
If there’s one thing that you don’t want to make headlines for, it’s your arrest for a domestic dispute. A lot of people would agree that they never saw this coming, especially from a person like Emma Roberts! Back in 2013, she got arrested for allegedly harming her long-term boyfriend, Evan Peters. Reports indicated at the time that she hit and bit her boyfriend. Ouch! We don’t know what started the fight, but it happened inside a hotel room in Montreal. A hotel guest called the police after hearing them argue in their room.
Emma has never said a word about her arrest in public. But she did once have this to say: “Everyone has kind of done something that is bad and everyone has shades of good, but everyone has that darkness. There's always that little twinkle of darkness in everyone's eye.”
After The Controversy Subsided, They Got Back Together
Apparently, the love is super strong between Evan Peters and Emma Roberts. That’s because he actually stayed with her after her domestic dispute arrest. Now, we don’t know the circumstances surrounding their fight (both Evan and Emma have never spoken about it) but what we do know is that Evan has never left her side. Even though they’ve been on and off again, Evan has always been there to give Emma the emotional support that she needs. He was even seen embracing a shaken Emma near Los Angeles a few weeks after her arrest.
Now, we don’t want to play devil’s advocate here, but if the gender roles were reversed here, we’re sure that a lot of people would have quite a few things to say about their troubled, rocky relationship.
She Has A Complex About Her Petite Height
For her fans, Emma Roberts is a big screen goddess. There’s nothing that she can do wrong. She’s beautiful, she’s talented and above all, the camera loves her. But little do her fans know that she actually has a pretty serious inferiority complex. Unlike the rest of her family (and her aunt Julia Roberts), she doesn’t have the supermodel height genes. Instead, she’s on the short side. And according to Emma, it’s one thing that she absolutely wishes she could change about herself.
Sadly, there’s nothing Emma can really do about being height challenged. She once said, “I'm 5 foot 2. I wish I were 5' 6. Everyone who meets me says, 'Oh my God. You look so much taller in person.” Oh well! There are plenty of other celebs that are in your same shoes, Emma.
She Was Compared To Lindsay Lohan
If people are comparing you to one of the biggest Hollywood failures of recent times and calling you the next Lindsay Lohan, you know you are in trouble. And that’s exactly what happened to Emma Roberts back in 2013. A lot of people were worried that she was going down a slippery slope after her arrest. All of her outburst and her catfights with her co-stars sure didn’t make things easier on her, too.
Apparently, Emma Roberts spent that year deep in the Los Angeles party scene. One source even told TMZ at the time, “We're told it all started after she broke up with Glee star Chord Overstreet – she began going out all night, hitting the clubs and surrounding herself with people who don't keep their noses clean.”
She Was Embarrassed By James Franco's Comments
Not only does Emma Roberts have to worry about people comparing her to Lindsay Lohan, but it looks like her co-stars sure aren’t helping her reputation, either. As a matter of fact, James Franco completely embarrassed the actress back in 2015 after he dished about her kissing style in an interview with Heroine Magazine.
James said, 'So now I'm going to embarrass you. I felt like our kiss was better in the second movie than in Palo Alt. So either you got better at kissing… [or] I was thinking maybe you were just being an amazing actress.”
Wow! It’s no wonder that Emma and James are no longer on speaking terms. No actress wants to be humiliated like that in public! And, who is to say that James doesn’t suck at kissing too, right? Totally unprofessional, if you ask us.
People Did Not Like Her On American Horror Story
When Emma Roberts found out that she had a role in the uber popular horror television series American Horror Story, she jumped for joy and was full of glee! And who wouldn’t be? Yet some say that Emma only got the role because her aunt Julia Roberts is close friends with Ryan Murphy. One person even said on Reddit, “Most people think she is a mediocre-actress that WOULDN'T have made it in the industry if not for her dad and aunt begins highly successful, award winning actors/actresses.”
A lot of people say that the only role that Emma plays well is that of “rich bratty girls.” Maybe it’s life intimidating art or the other way around, but either way she has a hard time showing off her acting chops in other roles.
She Has A Mean Girl Personality
Speaking of mean girls (and Lindsay Lohan, for that matter), one of the biggest reasons why Emma Roberts has a hard time winning people over is because of her mean girl persona. Actually, make that her snotty, privileged L.A. girl persona. A lot of people say that she’s just unlikeable. And her reputation for being a snob sure hasn’t helped her, either. Simply put, she just has a hard time making and keeping friends.
Still, her reputation hasn’t stopped her from doing what she wants to do. Emma once said, “If I'm having a really bad day, I always have a girlfriend – or even a guy friend – who I can call. They'll listen to me wallow for a minute and then be like, 'Okay, let's stop. Everything's great. Let's figure out how to fix whatever's bothering you.'”

Emma Roberts might not be the Queen of the resting angry face, but she is a top contender. This means that when her face is resting and has no expression, she comes across as cold and kind of angry-looking. She has a questionable reputation as it is. Plus, the resting angry face is not really a look that you want to carry on your face. Sorry, Emma.
Is She A Hollywood Snob?
Emma Roberts thinks that she’s too good for Target and she’s even said it on the record, too. I mean, who on this planet is too good for everyone’s beloved department store? Our former First Lady, Michelle Obama, even shared her love for the bull’s-eye store. But not Emma. She thinks it’s “cheesy,” for a lack of a better term.
The actress has mentioned that she wants to work in fashion, but unfortunately for her, it just hasn’t happened yet. Maybe that’s because no one wants to collaborate with her. Emma said back in 2010, “I want to do something in fashion that wouldn’t be cheesy. I wouldn’t do, like, Emma Roberts for Target. I’d want do to something more like the Olsen twins did, Elizabeth and James and The Row, something that is really cool, wearable and still unique.”
She Had A Feud With Jamie Lee Curtis
According to reports, even Jamie Lee Curtis couldn’t stand being in the same room as Emma Roberts while working on Scream Queens together. Back in 2015, a lot of people were complaining about her “notoriously bad attitude” and worse, her “epic ego.” Ouch.
That’s when the classy, talented and beautiful Jamie Lee Curtis took matters into her own hands. According to one reports, “After Jamie Lee saw Emma being snotty to the crew and showing up late, she sat her down for a talking to.” After that, the cast and crew noticed a change in Emma Roberts. She was more polite and punctual on set. I guess you can say that if there’s one person you don’t want to mess with, it’s mama Jamie Lee. She will set you straight!
She Has Been Accused Of Being Successful Thanks To Nepotism
If there’s one thing that Emma Roberts hates, it’s when anyone implies that she has only gotten to where she is because of Hollywood nepotism. Unfortunately, you have to call a spade a spade on this one. Her father is actor Eric Roberts and her aunt is the one and only Julia Roberts. A lot of people have noticed that Emma is very quick to defend herself whenever someone even utters the word “nepotism” in her direction. She’ll hate you for it.
Plus, she is known to have said this: “I have an autographed photo from Johnny Depp that says, 'To Emma, one of the most beautiful people I've ever met. Love, Johnny.' At nine you don't know who Johnny Depp is – but at 16 I was like, 'Oh my God.'"
People See Her As Spoiled, Anti-Social, And Mean
Unfortunately, there aren’t a lot of people that have nice things to say about Emma Roberts. As a matter of fact, many insiders have called her “spoiled, antisocial, and mean.” If you’re not the kind of person that will help her career in anyway, she doesn’t want to talk to you. What’s more, she reportedly chain smokes, too. So not only does she have a stinky attitude, but she has stinky breath, too. There’s just something really unappealing about a person who smokes.
Plus, do you know of any of Emma Roberts’ friends? We don’t either. With the exception of Evan Peters, no one wants to associate with her. It’s the sad truth. Actually, we don’t know who Emma texts when she’s feeling down, but there sure aren’t a lot of people who are publicly supporting her out there.
Does She Have A Future In Hollywood?
Right now it doesn't look like Emma Roberts has the chance of becoming the next Julia Roberts. I mean, surely it would have happened by now, right? Plus, it doesn't look like she’s much of an A-list star. Instead, her focus is on television work and hopefully settling down in the near future. As a matter of fact, Emma is dreaming of her own Prince Charming and her future white wedding. Does this mean that Evan Peters is no longer interested?
Emma has said this, “Sometimes when I'm going to sleep, I think, 'Oh God, my future husband is out there somewhere and I might know him, or I might not, and I wonder what he's doing and I wonder if he knows me.'
